Prof. FANG, Qiang

Qiang Fang received his Ph.D degree in biomedical engineering from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, in 2000. He joined RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia in 2002 as a permanent academic staff. Later he was promoted to a senior lecturer. During his 15 years of tenure at RMIT, Dr. Fang had served at various roles such as program leader, director of international collaboration, acting head of department, and faculty IT committee member. Prof. Fang joined Shantou University in June 2017. He is the founding chair of Shantou University’s new biomedical engineering department. His major research interests include intelligent and miniaturized medical instrumentation, wearable and implantable body sensor network, and pervasive computing technologies, which can be utilized for rehabilitation medicine and neurosciences. The total research fund that Dr. Fang had been granted exceeds US$ 2 million. He has published 4 book chapters, 40+ journal papers and 70+ peer-reviewed conference papers. Dr. Fang holds 7 Chinese patents as the major inventor and has supervised more than 7 PhD students and more than 30 master by research students.
